From the Soldier:

15 Oct 2007:
To all,

I want to thank you for your support, your dedication and your big hearts! You have made our 15 month tour so much easier to bear. It gives me faith in our country again to know that there are Americans who are still proud of America and the soldiers that fight for everything she embodies.

With all my heart I want to say thank you on behalf of the soldiers of the 615th Aviation Support Battalion. We will be going home soon and are not going to be taking anymore mail. I will be going home sooner than the rest to prepare for their arrival.

With Love,

SSG Taylor, Nuala K.

I will no longer be able to recieve mail as a liason for the unit because we will be redeploying soon. I ask to be withdrawn from the program. Thanks to all those who have sent letters and care packages. Finally thank you anysoldier.com for providing a connect between the soldiers and the people of America that we fight to defend.

Thank you!

SSG Taylor, Nuala K.

It's now August the hottest and driest time in the Middle East. I want to thank all those who have sent letters, postcards and care packages to the American soldiers deployed in the War on Terror.

The personnel have not changed and the requests are basically the same. However the females want me to add body wash to the list of needs. Everyone appreciates the shampoo/conditioner and the deodorant. The 1st Cav has a safety saying, "I can save my own life." Its true, if you use deodorant you can save yourself dirty looks, horrible comments and people trying to douse you with bottled water every 10 minutes.

Thank you again all of our supporters! A special thanks to the Elementary school children and their teachers that have sent drawings and cards. You're innocence, love, freedom and patriotism should set an example to all of us who take the freedoms of the U.S.A for granted.

SSG Taylor, Nuala K.

Greetings from the 615th! We are doing well despite the extension and are grateful for all of our supporters. There are no changes on personnel numbers and the requests have not changed either.

I don't have any new pictures to send, but we are having a Unit get together soon and I should have some to send then.

Thank you!

SSG Taylor, Nuala K.

There haven't been many changes except for the fact that we were all extended. I'm happy to annouce that I have been promoted as well as some of the other soldiers the last 2 months. The heat is going up and the requests have changed.

The soldiers have decided that they have enough shampoo and conditioner. Thanks to all those who sent those personal items. I want to put out special thanks to The Boy Scouts and the Girl Scouts as well as the many individual people who have sent pictures, letters, postcards and correspondence of hope and support. I wish many blessings and love to all the compassionate Americans that support the Troops.

The biggest request still remains magazines, snacks, foot powders and snacks. Notice I said snacks twice. We have very hungry soldiers out here who can't wait to get their hands on some snacks from home. By snacks I mean pringles, carrot cakes, 100 calorie snack packs, gummy candies, roasted or honey peanuts, etc.

Personnel number has not changed. Included in this email is a promotion ceremony picture with some of the people in the shop.

God Bless you and Thank you all for the great things you are doing.

I wanted to let you know that we have gotten a total of 18 boxes through anysoldier.com I have personally emailed or snail mailed every person who sent letters and boxes to thank them for thinking of us. I have even taken it upon myself to write to people who have sent boxes to other soldiers and not received any correspondence back. Anysoldier.com has made this deployment easier on all of us and especially the soldiers that don't get any mail. Thank you so much for this program.

Special requests have changed. The requests are now, body wash, snacks, facial care products, razors, lotion, foot powder and Q-tips. They still want books or magazines...it's a way to keep in touch with the outside world.

The people that I am representing has also changed. The company has given us 6 more male soldiers. We have been physically separated from 4 of the soldiers but I fly helicopters to them twice a week to pick up and drop off equipment for repairs. They will be recieving the next few boxes since they are my new guys.

SGT Taylor, Nuala K.

Look on them as your own beloved sons, and they will stand by you even unto death!"

Your living conditions and special requests:
We live 2 to a room in trailers surrounded by sandbags. Special requests have been deoderant, shampoo, shaving cream, and magazines.

We have 220V electricity with European adapted sockets: three pronged. Some of us have 110V adapters.

We have a microwave at work and a laundry service, but we try to wash our clothes in the bathroom sinks or broken down washers and dryers because the laundry takes 3 days to come back.

We don't have any cooking equipment except the microwave. We have one 10 cup coffee pot.

I am representing the 615th SPO/CSSAMO office. We run the support operations for our brigade.

Female soldiers would like tampons, panty liners and over night pads. A few females joked about sleep wear so I'll include that as a request.

With sizes the females are as follows: 4 medium and 3 large.
Males are as follows:
2 XL, 6 medium, 7 large and 2 XL

I represent the Support Operation (SPO) and the Command Support System Automation (CSSAMO) shops in the 615th Aviation Support Battalion which in turn supports the 1st Air Cavalry Brigade. The Air Brigade is the first in history and is made up of old 4th Brigade Units and some new units created to better support the fight overseas. The 615th ASB was founded in 1994. Our home station is Fort Hood, Texas. I have been a member of this Unit since 2001. We have deployed twice. Majority of my fellow shop members are married with children. Some of them had their children born most recently. I personally have 3 children, 15, 14 and 2 as well as a husband who I have been married to for 10 years. Our Commander is LTC Mark Hirschinger. Our CSM is Glen Vela. They have provided us with excellent leadership and we have every faith in them that they will bring us all home safe and sound.

IMPORTANT! DO NOT PRINT THIS PAGE!!!

Why? Because this list changes all the time due to unit movements, soldier transfers, or even soldier casualties.
It is also illegal. ALL content on this site is copyright Any Soldier Inc.
DO NOT send any letter or package to a soldier's address unless you check this web site the same day you mail your packages.
Please do not burden the soldiers or the APO/FPO by sending things when the soldiers are gone. If a soldier is not listed here anymore then that soldier's address is expired. Check here often!

Note that some of the units do not have ranks shown on their addresses.
This is done at the unit's request, but ALL of our contacts ARE soldiers.

Be sure to change the "ATTN" line to "ATTN: Any Female Soldier" if your package is for a female soldier!

DO NOT expect, or require, a reply from a soldier.
DO NOT use this program if you expect or require a reply.
A supporter said it perfectly, "I mean, these guys and gals have other things on their minds, y’know? Like...oh, STAYING ALIVE?"

(1.): Why are military addresses weird? There isn't a street address or city. What gives? Correct, just about everything about the military is weird to civilians. Military units are very mobile, during war they move around a lot, often they become part of even another unit. The APO (Army Post Office) and FPO (Fleet Post Office) assign APO and FPO numbers as needed, they are NOT static. An APO number may be for a large unit, or a location. An APO number for Baghdad today may be for Frankfurt tomorrow.

(2.): The "Expected to leave" date is only an approximate and is one of the least reliable things on this web site. It is because of this that you must check often before you send anything to this unit. There are a few reasons this date is not reliable, to include: it IS a war, it IS the military, we ARE dealing with the APO. The only thing that does not change in the military is that things will change. PLEASE NOTE that a soldier will be dropped off our active list 30 days PRIOR to their end date to avoid mail bouncing.

(3.): This is an approximate location. Due to safety and security concerns may not be their exact location

(4.): The lines, "Contact with approx number of soldiers:" and "Approx how may female soldiers:" have NOTHING to do with unit strength. They are approximately how many other soldiers the contacts believe they can get packages to. This helps you understand that you should not send 100 packages to someone who only deals with 10 soldiers.
Don't forget that if your package is for a female soldier, be sure to change "ATTN: Any Soldier" to "ATTN: Any Female Soldier".

(5.): This is simply where the unit this contact is from. This is NOT a true picture of the folks in the unit as most all units are made up of folks from all over the United States.) A "Composite Unit" is one made up of other units and is usually temporary for a particular mission.

(7.): Updated APO/FPO/DPO mailing restrictions courtesy of Oconus.com (gone now) (Note: About Restriction "U2": "U2 - Limited to First Class Letters", Box "R" is for retired personnel that live overseas and are still authorized an APO/FPO box. Their address will be something like Box 3345R. Doubt you will see anything like that in Afghanistan or Iraq or ...)(Please Note: Sometime in August 2013, Oconus.com changed the code on their page and our form doesn't work with them anymore, so a link to their page is the best we can do, sorry.)
