I just wanted to let everyone out there know how grateful I am for your support. Reading all of the letters and receiving all of those packages is really just awesome. Gives me chills at times...
I know the country is split on this war, but we (soldiers) are trying each day to do our best and get this country back on its feet. Some days are good ones and some are bad, but it will turn out for the best, I just know it will.
I've tried to write everyone who has sent me a letter or package, but if you haven't gotten anything from me, please understand the circumstances and that I am very appreciative of everything you all are doing.
I've said this before, but it warms my heart to know there are people I've never met who go out of there way to brighten up someone else's day whom they don't even know. Shows the kind of people we have back in the States.
Again, thank you for everything and know that my fellow soldiers appreciate your good works as well!
May God bless you all,
PFC Jonathan J. Springer

I forgot to add in the last email that 'Underarmor' is the best military gear for hot and cold weather. Everyone over here loves the underarmor stuff...

Well, it is now mid-September, and things are still rolling on here in Iraq. The days are long, and sometimes unbearably hot, but it is all for the best.
I just wanted to thank you all for sending care packages to myself and the Soldiers a part of the 16th MP Bde. You just don't know how much it means to all of us to get packages from folks back home.
Not only do the supplies and food help lift our spirits, but it is also rewarding to know that there are people back home that care for us.
Please remember that every package, regardless of size and contents, is something that we as Soldiers treasure. Thank you for taking the time to read this, and thank you for helping lift all of our spirits over here.
May God bless you all.

I'm so sorry I haven't been able to get back to you sooner, I've been gone on a mission covering one of our units. I will write something up today or tomorrow and send a pic of myself along with it.
God bless you,
Jonathan

Hello,
I want to first thank you for reading over this. I am currently the Public Affairs Officer for my brigade, which means I handle everything media related that happens with my unit. In turn, I am an Army journalist.
We are stationed here at Victory Camp, which is located right outside of Baghdad, Iraq.
We are a military police brigade, and we handle all of the convoy escorts, Iraqi Police training, security patrols, etc. The days are rather long for us all and the weather is getting hot, but it is all of the best.
Daily, I get to cover stories that my fellow MPs are a part of and I also get to interact alot with the Iraqi people.
You don't know how thankful the Iraqi are for what we are doing over here. I know the media back in the states doesn't report alot of 'good news' concerning the war, and they are wrong.
There are tons of great things going on over here, and it is a shame that it doesn't get attention by the big 3 cable news outlets. But that is where my job comes into play.
My mission is to keep the American Soldier and the American public informed of what is going on over here.
Anyways, that is just a brief summary of what myself and what my unit is doing.
I am located at the brigade headquarters and there are about 75 others who are here with me too.
If you do decide to send any care packages, let me first say thank you.
I know it takestime out of your day to send packages, and we really do appreciate it. Getting packages is probably the one thing that really brightens my day here.
I'm not going to sit here begging for certain items because that is not my place to do so. Anything you send, whether it be cookies, magazines, baby wipes, etc will be appreciated greatly.
Again, thank you for reading through this and may God bless you. If you would like to contact me, feel free too.
Take care,
PFC Jonathan J. Springer
